Drive for alternator and water pump The pulleys in a motor's auxiliary drive system are constantly in motion. They transfer power from the crankshaft to important parts like the alternator and the water pump. A worn or damaged pulley can lead to a slipping belt, which directly causes problems with the power supply or engine cooling. This leads to downtime, both on the road for trucks and in the field for tractors. Pulleys for vibration damping Besides standard pulleys for water pumps and alternators, febi also supplies TVD (Torsional Vibration Damper) pulleys. These pulleys, mounted on the crankshaft, have an additional function: they damp the engine's torsional vibrations. This protects the multi-ribbed belt and all driven components from peak loads, helping them last longer. Importance of balance and fit A pulley must be perfectly balanced and fit exactly. An imbalance causes vibrations that can damage the bearings of the alternator or water pump. The febi pulleys are OE-compliant, which means they meet the original specifications for dimensions and material. This allows them to be installed without problems and to function as intended.
