LED lights, a great idea

LED lights are increasingly used on trailers because they are more reliable than traditional bulb lights. There is no risk of the filament breaking due to vibration. They also use less energy, which at first seems an advantage, but it is the source of problems on some vehicles (don't worry, we offer a solution below).

The source of the compatibility problem

As technology advances, more and more vehicles are fitted with an on-board computer that detects faults, including on the lights. Because LED lights draw a current that seems too low to the on-board computer (compared with conventional bulbs), it treats this as a fault. On some vehicles this is reported to the driver while the lights keep working; on other models the on-board computer simply cuts off the lights it considers faulty. So even if the trailer lights are in perfect condition, they do not work correctly.

The solution

In that case, it is recommended to fit, on the trailer equipped with LED lights, a module that makes the LED lights compatible with the towing vehicle's on-board computer. You will find it on our site on the page: module for LED lights
